Comments: THE RETURN OF THE BESSARABIA GERMANS. In the Spring and Summer of 1940 while Nazi Germany overran Western Europe, the USSR demanded the cession of Bessarabia from Romania. During the Fall of 1940 the ethnic Germans of Bessarabia were offered resettlement to Germany. Some 93,000 Germans were resettled. This poster, issued by the NSDAP (Natinal Socialist German Workers Party -- commonly known in English as the Nazi Party) was used to announce a series of illustrated talks facilitating the repatriation.
