This stone litho poster design for a special exhibit at the 1900 Paris Exposition is a beautiful example of the Art Nouveau style of the 1890’s with the busy swirls and curves. The interlocking details, or busyness, of the design reminds us that this was a time when people tended to walk along the boulevard with time to stand in front of the poster to view it leisurely. With the mass marketing of automobiles, this soon changed and poster designsbegan to be more simplified and easier to see as viewers now raced by in their new automobiles.

There is the slightest evidence of original folio folds before the poster was linen backed.
