This RABELAIS poster, printed by PAUL DUPONT in Paris, promotes a new (i.e., 1885?) edition of a volume of droll and whimsical tales about father and son giants, Gargantua and Pantagruel, by FRANCOIS RABELAIS whose original publication dates from 1534.
The first edition of the volume promoted here was published in 1854 and here features 425 drawings by Gustave Dore. Featured in the central Dore image is the giant, Gargantua.
Restoration at the top left corner with some expert in-painting of part of the letters “R” and “A.”
