This 1929 COTE DE NACRE / LUC SUR MER poster view of the beach displays a peaceful and beautiful scene of the famous beach cottages and people enjoying their holiday. Our memories of Normandy bring quite a different scene to mind.
Among the first D-Day landings on Tuesday, June 6, 1944, were British troops who disembarked at Luc Sur Mer on the coast of Normandy.
Today, more than 70 years after D-Day, the Channel coast has returned to the beautiful seaside area with picturesque beaches. Only a short distance behind the coast, however, there remain evidence of German gun emplacements and bunkers.
